Creativity and Innovation
This is a short video I put together showing me fishing. I love to fish and this video shows some of the baits that I like to use, and there is a couple of casts that people could use as an example. This video was fun to make and I hope is entertaining to all who watch it.

Learning and Leading
1. The four dimensions used by J.P. Guilford to describe creativity are fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.
2. Elaboration is the one dimension that I think I struggle with the most. I can be creative and original but sometimes I have a hard time laying on a bunch of layers. When I do projects I do not include a lot of fluff. I usually do what is required, with a little bit of extra flair, but I do not over elaborate.
3. I think Twitter could be used in to help with elaboration and flexibility. A teacher could tweet an idea then have the students tweet back with their thoughts, ideas, or add some details. If the students tweet back with an appropriate hash-tag everything could be tied together nicely.
4. I checked out the website Wordle. I could definitely use this site in an ag classroom. Wordle is a website where make word clods. The first thing I thought about in how to use this site is having the class list all the animals you might find in a forest or all the tree species that are in that same forest. Once these word clouds are made it would be easy for students to go back and quickly scan the lists to refresh their memories.

Something Creative
I really enjoy cooking, and I really enjoy breakfast and the foods that go with it. So when we were asked to do something creative on Monday morning I planned on cooking something for breakfast. At first I thought about making a breakfast pizza, but I have made one before and I did not have a whole lot of time to prepare everything needed for the pizza. I decided to make some pancakes, but not any pancakes mind you. I made these pancakes with pecans and bits of sausage.
I mixed up the pancake batter, chopped up some pecans, and then crumbled up some precooked sausage patties. The end result was fantastic. I finished off my short stack with some butter and syrup. Definitely going to have to make these again in the near future.

Horizon Report
I am excited about all the technology that I will be able to use in the classroom. Long gone are the days of overhead projectors and having to roll in a TV to show a video in class. At times this technology seems to come out way too fast. Luckily though most schools and universities are spearheading ways to integrate all that they can. I really like the idea of students using tablets loaded with apps and programs that pertain to what is being taught. Teachers will be able to suggest apps to use, videos to watch, and articles to read that will expand on and enrich what is happening in the classroom. I have commented to my friend and family many times about Google has made it so easy to find out about stuff that years ago we would have just been left not knowing. The information is there and luckily it is readily available and easy to access.

My Thoughts on Learning
I have taken many education classes and have been able to think a lot
about my philosophy of learning and how people learn. I am a big
subscriber to the tabula rasa theory of learning. Tabula rasa means
blank slate and I thoroughly believe that everyone is born with a blank
slate and it is up to us, our parents, our peers, and our teachers to
help fill this tablet with pertinent information. All people learn in
different ways, for me I learn best by watching and listening. Taking
pages of notes has never helped me all that much, but if teachers would
somehow put all their lessons into video form I think school would be
easier than ever. I also believe that most people learn best with a lot
of practice, detailed lessons, and just a little bit of rote
memorization, plus when people are having fun with their lessons the
learning seems to come a little easier. Hopefully when I teach I will
be able to pull from all my resources and make my lessons fun and
informational. I would like to include video clips, games, and and be
able to relate to what we are learning to some real world experiences.
To me practice is one of the more important processes in the learning
process. After practice another important process to me is one's
ability to comprehend what they are reading. Without reading
comprehension students would be going nowhere in their academic careers.
Being a Digital Immigrant isn't so Bad
I was born in 1982, right on the dividing line described by Prensky,
for digital natives and digital immigrants. I see myself more as a
digital immigrant than a digital native, though I use many technologies
and social media that are popular today I feel like I'm not using them
to their fullest extent. Hopefully classes like EDIT 2000 and others I
will be taking will help me utilize all the technology and social media
available for use in the classroom. I would definitely agree that here
in the digital age students spend a lot more time behind a screen and
pounding on a keyboard. Students are able to research topics and gather
information faster, better, and more thoroughly than ever before. What
I don't agree with is that because of all this available technology
that students today have a hard time learning something that is not on
some type of screen. After reading "Digital Nativism" I think that
Prensky is, well I'm not going to say wrong, but I think he needs to do a
little more research on his digital natives. Some of his claims are
outlandish, like digital natives do better with multitasking and are
bored by doing one thing at a time. After all this reading we were
asked to think about the mindset list much like this list of current day 4th graders, and some things that they will not get to experience or remember.
1. They can only read about all the years the Braves won their division.
2. Missed out on the MySpace to Facebook migration.
3. The letters TRL mean nothing.
4. Unless gas prices drop dramatically they'll never see a brand new Hummer.
5. Dubstep will be oldies music to them.
